OBSOLETE!  Version 3.31 STILL Available!

What WAS WinMX?
WinMX WAS a popular file-sharing program like no other, but it hasn't been updated in 1-1/2 YEARS!  It allowed you to connect, download, and share files with MILLIONS of other users through the decentralized WinMX Peer Network, but now it's only thousands of users and shrinking more every day.  Once WinMX is installed, you'll have access to one of the smallest and least diverse networks of shared media files in the world.  And unlike many other newer 'peer to peer' software providers, we respect your sanity and won't keep updating the program every year.  When you download WinMX, you're getting WinMX the same as it always was, no new updates, no frills, no B.S. If it ain't broke (and even if it is), we ain't fixin' it!

Features
Outdated WFY (Was Fast Yesterday) peer-to-peer protocol
Share and DOWNLOAD ANY FILE TYPE YOU MIGHT STILL FIND ON OUR WPN NETWORK
Multi-sourced downloading for maximum speed on broadband connections (if you're VERY lucky)
Auto-Complete feature continuously seeks out new download sources in vain forever, even after WinMX finally disappears from the Internet
Detailed bandwidth monitoring and throttling controls (not that they'd get much use, but it's nice to know it's there)
Complete upload and download queuing system (lets you imagine what you'd have to do if you had up to 3 people downloading from you at once)
Fully depopulated chat rooms

OpenNap connectivity -- for the more serious P2P users who really expect to find SOMETHING
Powerful docking window interface great for hi-res and multi-monitor systems (in case you wanted lots of inactive screen acreage)
Compatible with most LAN configurations, so you can play something closer to real P2P in your own house
WinMX respects your sanity and won't keep updating the program every year

Requirements
Windows 98 / ME / 2000 / XP
Pentium 166 w/ 64MB ram or better recommended, but don't try running more than Windows 98 on it!
(Some of us are contemplating a backward compatible version that will run on 286 and 386 machines using Windows 3.1)

NO 'Current' Version, just: abandonware version 3.31
(released Oct 19, 2002)

Yesterday's News:
October 19, 2003
WinMX v3.31 STILL available.  This ancient upgrade fixed several small problems with the prehistoric version, but who remembers THAT one anyway?
