Moving your domain name
If you are
moving your domain name from Prolynx Internet to another
provider, please ask for their assistance.
Moving a
domain name can be simple or complicated depended on
where you registered the name and who registered it for
you.
To move your
domain name to Prolynx Internet, request your
registration company to change the name servers to:
NS1.PROLYNX.COM
(primary)
NS2.PROLYNX.COM
(secondary)
Since most
domain names reside at on name server for long periods
of time, it is possible to lose registration information
by the time you are ready to move. Other hindering
factors are specific registration information such as
your mailing address, phone number, company ownership or
email addresses being changed.
Most
registration companies are now offering an online
accounting feature which allows you to modify certain
aspects of your domain name, such as the name server
addresses when moving a domain. This is great
unless:
|
1.
|
You
have lost your user name and password |
|
2.
|
You
no longer have the same email address you used
to register your domain, so you cannot retrieve
your password. |
|
3. |
Somebody that used to work for you hasn't locked
your domain name out of spite |
|
4. |
Your
domain was registered by your subcontractor with
"their" ownership information, and they are out
of business |
Once moved,
the domain name takes 24 to 48 hours to be published to
and routed by the root servers.
Once routed,
please contact us and let us know how you wish to use
your domain name. Some people simply register a
name so somebody else doesn't get it. We charge
nothing to park a domain name on our servers, so
register away. Others use a domain name for web
hosting or just so they can be in control of their own
email.
Prolynx
allows 25 email addresses as a standard service when you
host your domain name with us. Domain hosted email
allows you full control over adding and removing email
addresses at your domain, whenever you wish. This
is all accomplished via our Web-based email
administration tool. More information about
administering your own email at your domain can be found
by clicking on the "using domain email" in the upper
left menu structure on this page. |
