If you are
getting "Error 550 not a local host, not a gateway"
when trying to send email, click
here.
You may send
and receive email via our browser-based "Web Mail" or
via your own email program. Where many email
programs can be used with our service, we offer
technical support setup for Microsoft Outlook and
Microsoft Outlook Express. Our Web Mail may be
found by clicking "web mail" in the upper right hand
corner of any of our web pages.
Below you
will find email setup instructions for both Microsoft
Outlook and Microsoft Outlook Express. Some older
versions of Microsoft Outlook will use the setup
instructions from Microsoft Outlook Express. To
discover which setup document that you will need to
view, do the following:
1.
Open Microsoft Outlook or Outlook Express
2. Click on the "Tools" menu
3. If "Accounts..." shows, use the Outlook
Express instructions
4. If "E-mail Accounts..." shows, use the
Outlook instructions
5. If "Services" shows, you may need to update
your Outlook
For your quick reference:

Mail server type:
POP3
(use
POP if POP3 does not show) |
|
- |
Incoming mail server address: pop3.prolynx.com |
|
- |
Outgoing mail server address: smtp.prolynx.com
(you may alternately use mail.prolynx.com for
both servers) |
|
- |
Your
"account name" or "user name" is your
complete email address. |
|
- |
Some
older Macintosh systems require the use a "#"
instead of an "@" in the user name and the email
address. This only affects how you setup
your program and not how people address your
email address when sending you an email. |

Our
outgoing mail server requires "authentication."
Do not confuse "authentication" for "secure
password authentication SPA." This is also
sometimes called "outgoing server requires
logon." Use your complete email address
and password to authenticate. You may optionally
tell your software to use the same user name and
password as your incoming server. |
Please note
that the following screens might appear slightly
different on your computer due to revision variations
