Metropolitan Optical Ethernet
Point to Point
Ethernet Connection
A Point to Point Optical Ethernet connection is very
much like a point to point T1, DS3 or higher service,
except it is a true Ethernet connection. When
connecting two points via a T1 you are first limited to
a 1.5Mbps connection. Your T1 connection requires
a T1 router on both ends and each must be programmed to
enable your network on both ends to communicate
correctly. Similar to a T1, a DS3 operates
identically and is limited to 45Mbps and is very
expensive.
Optical Ethernet is true Ethernet. Using the Point
to Point scenario, each location is activated on our
Optical Ethernet network. We deliver an Ethernet
cable to each location and you plug it into your
existing Ethernet switch. That's it. Your
two points are now connected via Ethernet.
Available connection speeds are as follows:
5 Mbps $680
10 Mbps $765
20 Mbps $822
30 Mbps $879
40 Mbps $936
50 Mbps $993
60 Mbps $1049
70 Mbps $1106
80 Mbps $1164
90 Mbps $1220
100 Mbps $1275
200 Mbps $1775
300 Mbps $2276
400 Mbps $2777
500 Mbps $3277
600 Mbps $3778
700 Mbps $4278
800 Mbps $4779
900 Mbps $5280
1 Gigabit $5780
Prices are based per port on a 3 years contract (minimum
1 year contract required.) A point to point is two
ports, one for each point. We offer discounts on
these prices when you collocate equipment in our data
center or require Internet access via this connection.
Please click on the "Internet Access" link in the upper
left for more information. A basic Ethernet switch
capable of VLAN tagging is required at both ends.
